A video of Deputy Eve Ronin's off-duty arrest of an abusive movie star goes viral, turning her into a popular hero at a time when the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is plagued by scandal. The sheriff, desperate for more positive press, makes Eve the youngest female homicide detective in the department's history. Eve and her burned-out, soon-to-retire partner are called to the blood-splattered home of a missing single mother and her two kids.
